Beth Whittenbury, an attorney, will update participants on the new rules, laws and case decisions affecting workplace investigations including US Supreme Court Cases, Vance v. Ball State and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center v. Nassar, NLRB updates on the application of the Banner opinion to workplace investigations. Participants will also learn how to avoid being found liable for Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress and why the court found an investigation inadequate in Turley v. ISB Lacawana. HRCI credit is available for attending the luncheon.

Ms. Whittenbury began her legal career in the Labor and Employment Law Group of what was then known as Pillsbury Madison and Sutro in their San Francisco Office. She left to found her consulting practice specializing in resolving employment issues without litigation. She currently conducts sexual harassment training, workplace resolution systems audtis, employee mediations and fact-finding investigations. She taught Business Law at the college level for 5 years. She served on the Board of Directors for the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA, a chapter of SHRM), and as a member of the Professionals in Human Resources Association, (a Southern California chapter of SHRM) she served on the Board of Directors for PHIRA's District 7 and as a liaison to PIHRA's Legislative Affairs Committee.
She is active in the American Bar Association, currently serving as Chair-Elect of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section Employment Law and Litigation Committee and on the Commission on Youth at Risk. She has served as Co-Chair of the Public Education Committee of the Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities. During her tenure in that capacity, the Public Education Committee won the Committee Excellence Award. She has written four books, numerous articles and appeared as a presenter, moderator, and key note speaker for several major conferences.Date and Time
