From small house fires to multi-state natural disasters\, Red Cross volunteers go wherever they're needed\, so people can have clean water\, safe shelter\, and hot meals when they need them most. Representing more than 90% of the Red Cross workforce\, volunteers are the backbone of our lifesaving mission. Never has this been more noticeable than this past year when the Red Cross provided more nights of emergency shelter than any point on record due to an unprecedented wildfire season in conjunction with the economic fallout from the pandemic.
