DESCRIPTION:In recognition of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing\, Arts Visalia will showcase the mesmerizing Japanese Chigiri-e torn paper art of Hiroshima survivor Reiko Nakamura Yoshimoto in the Main Gallery. The Feature Gallery will showcase the skilled Chinese calligraphy of Margaret Moholt. The exhibitions will take place September 4 ? 27\, 2025. A free opening reception will take place on Friday\, September 5 from 5:00 pm ? 7:30 pm with handmade ice cream and snow cones by Sugarlicious Visalia. Learn all about these culturally impactful art forms at a free artist talk by Reiko?s son Bill Yoshimoto and Margaret Moholt that will take place on Saturday\, September 6 starting at 2:00 pm. Learn the art of Chinese Calligraphy from Margaret Moholt in a 2-hour workshop on Saturday\, September 20 from 2:00 pm ? 4:00 pm. Seats are limited. Register online at www.ArtsVisalia.org. The Yoshimoto family is hosting a raffle for one of Reiko Nakamura Yoshimoto?s priceless artworks as a fundraiser for Arts Visalia. Your chance to own a highly sought-after piece of art comes at the low price of $25 per ticket. The winner will be drawn on Saturday\, September 27 at 2:00 pm to close out this historic exhibition. Nopales y Néctar by Jose Soria will be exhibited October 1 ? November 1\, 2025. Soria?s immersive artwork explores the intersectional relationships of Mexican American\, LGBTQ+\, and Catholic cultures that define the artist?s life. A free opening reception will take place on Friday\, October 3 from 5:00 pm ? 7:30 pm. Learn from the artist in person during a live artist talk on Saturday\, October 4\, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
