SUMMARY:SHRM Luncheon - Professional Appearance and the Law
DESCRIPTION:Many employees object to being judged for employment based on how they look. Most prefer to be assessed based on their skills and abilities\, not because of our dress and grooming. BUT like it or not\, appearance is important. As HR professionals\, supervisors/managers\, employees\, how do we deal with individuals who do not adhere to the company grooming/dress policy especially if there are other factors in play like religious beliefs\, gender/transgender issues\, etc. Do not fear\, Tracy Sanders will be here to answer your questions and concerns.\n\nTopics that will be covered:\n\n\n	Religious grooming\n	Gender/transgender dress issues\n	Current court rulings on workplace appearance\n\nWho should attend?\n\n\n	HR professionals\n	Supervisors/managers\n	Educators\n	Salons/salon schools\n\n\n\nWe are fortunate enough to have Tracy Sanders as our speaker for our November luncheon. Tracy is an attorney\, author\, and speaker in Los Angeles\, CA. She is founder of Natural Hair and Law\, which is an organization formed to provide publications\, workshops\, and events addressing legal issues related to natural hair in the workplace and schools.\n\nShe earned a Juris Doctor Degree at Syracuse University College of Law in 2002\, Master of Public Administration degree at the University of South Carolina in 1998\, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of South Carolina in 1995. \n\nTracy enjoys yoga\, traveling\, and community service.
