In February 2020, Arts Visalia presents an exhibition featuring the artworks of Broni Likomanov. Broni was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he studied art design at Apply Art High School and took his B.A. of animation film making from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Art. Broni currently lives with his wife and children in Studio City, California. He has been working as an artist in the animation industry for over 20 years for such companies as Disney, Universal, Klasky Csupo, and Loonland. He has been nominated for an Emmy twice. His original paintings and sculptures are in private collections in the U.S., the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Canada and Bulgaria. Some of his sculptures are also exhibited in the Silvana Gallery in Glendale, CA. Broni states, "The primary interest in my paintings and sculptures is the human. I intentionally strip my subject from any particular time or place. By removing the background and isolating the subject, I explore the raw, universal human emotions with simple gestures, poses, and facial expressions. I'm not interested in telling stories of great importance. The characters in my artwork are "torn" by their emotions (loneliness, fatigue, love, desire, lust, etc.). My goal is for the viewer to complete the captured moments in time, the scattered pieces and glimpses of emotions, and to unfold their own stories." Broni Likomanov?s exhibition will be displayed February 5th through February 28th, with an opening reception on First Friday, February 7th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will also be an artist talk at Arts Visalia on Saturday, February 8th, 2020. The exhibition is sponsored in part by Jack & Charlie?s, the Vintage Press Restaurante, and the Southern Pacific Depot Restaurant. In March 2020, Arts Visalia will display a Women?s History Month Exhibition. In honor of Women's History Month, Christina Brunk & Abby Rubinstein's artwork will be on the gallery walls of Arts Visalia to tell the stories of their lives through their art. Abby and Christina have vastly different work with a commonalty of representation through expression. The exhibition of Abby and Christina's work will be displayed March 4th through March 27th, with an opening reception on First Friday, March 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Arts Visalia?s Young Imaginations Gallery will display the artworks of 5-17 year old participants of our children?s classes from December?s session of Art in Sculpting. Arts Visalia?s spring class enrollment forms are available at Arts Visalia and online. Spring classes will be offered in February through May.
