Smog Update class

Disciplined Advanced Scan Tool & Emissions Diagnosis - UT033 UT033 is a BAR-certified 16-hour smog technician update training seminar which is divided into two helpful sections: A NEW WAY TO LEVERAGE SCAN TOOLS The Scan Tool section was built using a completely different approach – to show the best PIDs, controls and other Scan Tool functions to use for each diagnosis. There are dozens of examples of this strategy in action, diagnosing the most common powertrain codes including: P0171 & other Fuel Trim codes EVAP leak and other functional failure codes Misfire code isolation techniques EGR functional and flow codes O2 and Air/Fuel sensor codes FAILED VEHICLE INSPECTION REPORTS Manufacturers don’t publish flow charts for ‘failed emissions test’. We’re left to test ‘everything’ in a linear diagnostic path that has no focus. To solve this problem, we’ve created a 1-page flow chart that divides all emissions failures into ‘Fuel Control Faults’ and ‘Emissions Control Faults’. It’s hard to ‘eyeball’ the difference until you consider Lambda or Air/Fuel ratio calculations, but the difference is critical to a quick solution. What you’ll learn: A very specific diagnostic strategy for OBD II Monitors and Diagnostic Trouble Codes A 1-page flow chart that divides all emissions failures into ‘Fuel Control Faults’ and ‘Emissions Control Faults’ Strategies for finding the real fault using the high level indicator of Fuel Trim Easy tests to further rule out subcategories within emission control systems New information from BAR regarding overall program changes Who Should Attend: Currently licensed Smog Check technicians, complete the course to renew your license A certificate will be issued to all students who pass the course This is a not-for-credit course As such, you will not earn units and the class will not be reflected on your banner schedule or on transcripts. As a not-for-credit course, Financial Aid cannot be used to pay for or offset the costs of this course.
