The solution was to virtually connect workers to vital information on applying for Unemployment Insurance\, managing stress\, and connecting to the Employment Connection and other important community resources. Together partners developed a weekly webinar to reach businesses and impacted employees on a massive scale. COVID-19 Layoff Assistance Webinars are held via zoom every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Businesses with 10 or more employees also have an opportunity to schedule a custom time for their staff to access the webinar.\n\n \n\nThe webinar is a great way for impacted workers to connect to important resources\, get support\, and determine their next steps. Below is a quick overview of the information that is presented.\n\n \n\n\n Employment Development Department (EDD) will provide an overview of how to file for unemployment benefits\, answer questions related specifically to COVID-19\, and provide phone numbers and e-mail for local EDD staff who are available to work with individuals one on one.\n Tulare County Health and Human Services will provide information on how to manage stress during this difficult time and share resources that are available locally to help employees and their families who may be feeling anxiety\, depression or loneliness.\n Employment Connection will provide information for those interested in getting back to work or adding to their skills\, the Employment Connection will talk about how workers can get connected to new jobs\, virtual workshop series\, career coaching\, and more. \n 211 and Tulare County Health and Human Services partners will talk to attendees about how to access local resources for those who need assistance with rent\, utilities\, health care\, and much more.\n\n\n \n\nSince the stay at home order on March 23rd\, Tulare County residents have filed more than 16\,000 new unemployment claims. Our goal is to reach as many of these individuals as possible to help.
