Job Title: Part-time Courier Driver

Compensation: $16.00 - $16.50 / Hour

Join our team at Peninsula Messenger Service as a Part-time Courier Driver! This vital role ensures timely and efficient delivery of essential materials across Central California. As a Courier Driver, you'll be the face of our company, helping to maintain our reputation for exceptional service and reliability.

Our drivers wear uniforms to ensure a professional appearance, providing our clients with a safe and secure delivery service.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Navigate various routes with 8 to 75 stops per day, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
  2. Organize materials into folders, trays, boxes, bags, or ice chests to streamline the delivery process.
  3. Operate company vehicles safely, adhering to scheduled pick-up and delivery times.
  4. Maintain safe driving habits, including compliance with posted speed limits, while navigating congested city streets, freeways, and county roads.
  5. Uphold a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service during interactions.
  6. Communicate effectively with the dispatch team regarding any changes, delays, or issues during deliveries.
  7. Verify the accuracy of delivery addresses and contact information before each delivery.
  8. Regular attendance is an essential function.
 
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Must be at least 21 years old with five years of driving experience.
  2. Valid California driver’s license with photograph.
  3. Valid Social Security Number or ITIN.
  4. Completion of I-9 form with appropriate documentation to establish work eligibility in the U.S.
  5. Completion of W-4 form and employment application.
  6. Subject to background investigation, reference checks, and drug screening.
  7. Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
  8. Capable of lifting and loading parcels weighing up to 70 lbs.
  9. Maintain insurability under our general liability insurance policy.
  10. Satisfactory driving record: excessive tickets or driving issues may impact employment.
  11. Possess a good work attitude and a willingness to carry out instructions, and other duties as required.
 
Preferred Experience or Skills:
  1. Previous experience as a courier or delivery driver.
  2. Familiarity with route navigation systems.
  3. Strong customer service skills with an emphasis on professionalism and communication.
  4. Must demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and flexibility.
  5. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
