Job Title Mid-Level Gift Officer Status Part-Time or Full-Time, Non-Exempt Compensation Hourly Rate Reports To Director of Development
Overview The Development Coordinator is responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing gift prospects and identifying new prospects in a fundraising capacity. The development Coordinator can empathize with donors and communicate our organization’s mission. The Development Coordinator is expected to energize team members, persuade prospects, and persevere in negotiations. The Development Coordinator also participates in all fundraising activities, including donor relations and special events. Also aids in administrative support to the Director of Development. Donors are the lifeblood of VRM, and the Development Coordinator must be diplomatic, accommodating, outgoing, and possess exceptional social skills and emotional intelligence.
Essential Functions • Manage a portfolio of donors to deepen relationships and encourage increased giving using an innovative giving program and stewardship plan focused on retention-based philanthropy. • Execute best practices around growing the pipeline by using a thoughtful stewardship plan. • Maintain and execute a communication matrix including, but not limited to, all thank, ask, and impact reporting communications, as well as stewardship strategies. Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization. • Participate in each step of the donor pipeline, including identification, qualification through research, cultivation, briefing, request for support, and prompt follow-up, and recognition. vrmhope.org • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools. • Monitor and report on program priority metrics and goals. • Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop strategies to identify and convert qualified donors into major gift portfolios. • Meet donor retention and upgrade goals jointly established with the Director of Development. • Ensure all donor data is accurate and all donor interactions are tracked in a timely manner in the donor database, Virtuous. • Work with the development department to align efforts and set goals. • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitations (e.g., provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications). • Help facilitate and work special events. • Maintain ongoing professional development and keep current with industry best practices as necessary to support a robust giving program on behalf of Visalia Rescue Mission. • Travel locally to meet with donors as necessary up to 25% of the time. • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and/or the CEO. • Ability to drive a vehicle and have a valid CA driver’s license.
Qualifications • 1-3 Years sales experience (preferred). • Ability to work with a team to accomplish the Mission’s fundraising goals by planning events throughout the year. • Ability to analyze a database to determine where your time and resources will be best spent. • Ability to thrive in new and unfamiliar territory. • Ability to establish and maintain quality business relationships throughout the organization and community. • Organized and detail oriented. • Ability to cold-call individuals and ask them to support the vision of the Mission. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

Physical Demands • Attendance and punctuality. • Mobility within the office. • Ability to stand or sit in one place for long periods of time. • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel. • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 25 pounds repetitively throughout the day and up to 50lbs occasionally. • Ability to travel stairs.
Environmental Conditions: • Indoors in a typical office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes approximately seventy-five percent (75%) of the time. • Frequent use of computer at workstation up to eight hours at a time. • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions. • Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines. • May move (walk or drive) from one work location to another occasionally.
Compensation: • Pay is based on experience. • Health benefits following 60 days of continuous employment. • 401K option is available after 30 days of continuous employment.
