Job Title Food Services Driver Status Part-Time, Non-Exempt Compensation Hourly rate Reports To Hospitality Manager

Overview The Food Services Driver is responsible for driving a variety of vehicles including, but not limited to half ton pickup truck, cargo van, and a 5-ton refrigerated box truck. They will also perform routine vehicle maintenance and report non-routine problems as detected. Driver will collect and deliver donations promptly to and from donors, relating organizations, and departments within the Rescue Mission. 

Essential Functions • Collect and deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes. • Follow route and time schedule. • Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate delivery vehicles. • Operates receiving equipment such as; pallet jack, scales, hydraulic lifts gate, hand truck, and carts. • Ask for feedback on provided services and resolve challenges. • Complete logs and reports. • Performs routine vehicle maintenance, such as checking oil, water, and tires; reports any nonroutine problems or malfunctioning equipment to management. • Follows specified instructions, procedures, and standards for the efficient and safe operation of the vehicle, and for the care and safety of passengers. • Conforms to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial van for passenger use. • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. • Ability to drive a vehicle and have a valid CA driver’s license.  

Qualifications • 1-2 years on the job driving experience. (preferred) • Ability to operate class C vehicles and receiving equipment in a variety of weather and traffic conditions. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Personable and professional customer service demeanor. • Have a flexible work schedule and available to work holidays and weekends as needed. • Ability to perform routine maintenance on small commercial vehicles, and to identify vehicle problems and malfunctions. • Knowledge of requirements and standards related to the safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles. • Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record. • Ability to become forklift certified.

Physical Demands • Walk or stand for long periods of time on uneven surfaces. • Considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body including the ability to bend at the waist and knees, stretch, twist, stoop, push, pull, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. • Ability to climb, work at heights, lift at least 50 pounds, balance, and handle materials. • Ability to keep or regain your body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position. • The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. vrmhope.org • The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. • Manual dexterity to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. • Ability to safely drive a vehicle.

Environmental Conditions: • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. • Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions. • Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines. • May move (walk or drive) from one work location to another occasionally. 

Compensation: • Pay is based on experience. • Health benefits following 60 days of continuous employment. (Full-Time Employee’s ONLY) • CalSavers option is available after 30 days of continuous employment.
